For the fourth time already, the newly formed creative team for Magazine from Kaunas “Į” aims to explore the processes that determine the identity of the city. On December 18, 6 p.m. a presentation-discussion of the latest magazine “Į” will be held at Kaunas Photography Gallery. During the event, together with the creators of the magazine, we invite you to get acquainted with Kaunas as a multicultural city and to purchase the latest publication at a discounted price.
The statement that Kaunas is the most Lithuanian city has become quite common now, even boring – perhaps it’s time to evaluate the origins and relevance of this epithet? The newest issue of the magazine seeks a deeper insight into the influences of different nations and cultures that have and still are shaping the city’s identity. This developing topic will be discussed by the historian Inga Puidokienė, literaturologist Justina Petrulionytė-Sabonienė, director of Kaunas Cultural Centre of Various Nations – Dainius Babilas. The discussion will be moderated by the philosopher Viktoras Bachmetjevas. During the event, members of the magazine’s creative team Inga Navickaitė-Drąsutė and Julija Račiūnaitė will present the legend of Kaunas – the myth of Palemon. Clementine Uwiragiye will perform a song based on her experiences living in Kaunas.
One of the core elements of the magazine is the creative workshop process, where the newly formed creative team delved deeper into the topic of the publication and shaped the content. The magazine’s fourth workshop was led by the artist Akvilė Anglickaitė, graphsic designer Miglė Ceinorytė, philosopher Viktoras Bachmetjevas, and Kaunas Photography Gallery’s creative team.
