On 15-18 May, Kaunas Photography Gallery participates in one of the most important international art publishing events – Los Angeles Art Book Fair (LAABF). This year the fair is being held at the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California.
This is the second time the gallery has participated in LAABF – this year Kaunas Photography Gallery is again the only publishing platform from the Baltic States invited to this prestigious event. LAABF brings together hundreds of independent publishers and tens of thousands of visitors from all over the world.
The gallery presents photobooks by classic and contemporary Lithuanian photographers. Among them are Antanas Sutkus, Rimaldas Vikšraitis, Virgilijus Šonta, Aleksandras Macijauskas, Gintaras Česonis, Mindaugas Kavaliauskas, Vytautas V. Stanionis and Ieva Stankutė. These publications cover topics ranging from documentary photography to personal, social and cultural research.
The gallery’s publications are represented in Los Angeles by photographer, publisher and curator Mindaugas Kavaliauskas, who is also presenting his new photobook A-Spot, which analyses the phenomenon of civil aviation and the culture of flight surveillance.
Since 2015, Kaunas Photography Gallery has been an active participant in international art book fairs, and its publications have received recognition both in Lithuania and abroad.
