London-based artist Tom Lovelace is currently leading lectures and creative workshops for MA Photography students at the Kaunas Faculty of the Vilnius Academy of Arts. We invite you to join the culmination of this process – a public lecture and performance by the artist, taking place this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Kaunas Photography Gallery.
Tom Lovelace’s practice intertwines photography and performance. His artistic work is shaped by phenomenology, theatre, abstract art traditions and collaborative practices. Since 2017 he has been developing the project Living Pictures, in which he creates interactive exhibition spaces that explore architectural sites, moments in art history and the nature of the photographic image.
In these works, photography becomes not only an image but also an experience – a live encounter between body, space and viewer, inviting us to reconsider how we look at, perceive and participate in photography. Lovelace’s performative practice opens up photography as a process in which not only the final result but also the very act of being in the image is important.
The artist is currently completing his doctoral studies at the University of Westminster and also teaches at the Royal College of Art in London.
The event is open to everyone interested in contemporary photography, performance and interdisciplinary art practices.
The event will be held in English.
